Description

Start with a narrow customer task and define what the download must help the customer produce. List included files, supported formats, required software and exclusions. Write acceptance checks before creating the files. A checklist product, for example, should help someone complete a specific review; its value is not established by adding more pages.

Use a traceable build plan

Break the brief into content, editable templates, instructions, cover, sales copy and packaging tasks. Give each task an owner and an evidence location. Keep working files separate from the release folder. Record any externally sourced material with its licence and permitted distribution. Ownership of a downloaded file does not by itself establish permission to resell or redistribute it.
